Transition metal complexes are leading candidates in developing anticancer agens with cisplatin used in chemotherapy worldwide. Copper, an endogenous metal in the human body, is especially attractive because of its typical redox biological activities and a relatively strong affinity to nucleobases. DNA/BSA interactions and cytotoxic studies of tetradentate N,N,O,O Schiff base copper(II) complexes

UV-Vis absorption studies showed that studied complexes interact with DNA molecule and exhibit moderate binding affinity. Interactions of Copper(II) Complexes of some Schiff base ligands with calf thymus DNA and bovine serum albumin
Joni prelaznih metala u kombinaciji sa različitim ligandima nude veliki broj mogućnosti za ispitivanje potencijalnih bioaktivnosti. Među jonima prelaznih metala, bakar je poznat kao endogeni metal za ljude, sa karakterističnim biološkim redoks aktivnostima i relativno jakim afinitetom za nukleobaze. Kompleksi bakra ispoljavaju svoju antitumornu aktivnost na nekoliko različitih načina, generišu veliku količinu ROS, što uzrokuje oksidativno oštećenje mitohondrija i biomakromolekula. Efekti metalo-lekova koji se koriste kao hemoterapeutici na aktivnost ovog enzima nisu poznati. U ovom radu, interakcija između PLA2 svinjskog pankreasa i dva odabrana kompleksa prelaznih metala — tetrahloro(bipiridin) platine(IV) ([PtCl4(bipi)]) i dihloro (bipiridin) rutenijum(III)hlorida ([RuCl2(bipi)2) ]Cl)—proučavana je.
