One of the specificities of reservoirs forming in highly karstified terrains is reflected in the wide range of unknowns, specifically during reservoir formation, filling and operation. Unfortunately, despite complex research, many reservoirs constructed in karst terrains have problems with water losses from the reservoir to other aquifers due to ponor and ponor zones which are a common in the karst of Eastern Herzegovina. One of such zones is Šuković ponor located in the southern part of the Cerničko polje ... Hazardous substances in karst aquifer waters - one of the results of the operational monitoring of groundwater in Serbia
Climate change and their imapct on karst groundwater
Milan Đelić, Vesna Ristić Vakanjac (2021)In the last 30 years, there have been progressively more dry and rainy years, a reduced presence or even absence of snow cover, an increase in air temperature, large-scale fires, intensified glacier melting, and the like. Climate change certainly has an effect on all areas of economic activity, but its largest impact is on water resources and existing ecosystems. One of the most important water resources is groundwater, on account of which more than 70% of the population of ...Milan Đelić, Vesna Ristić Vakanjac . The Flow Conditions in the Epikarst Zone of a Karst Aquifer. Case Study: Suva planina Mt., East Serbia
Branislav Petrović (2023)The epikarst as a part of the karst aquifer represents a complex point of contact and mixing of unconsolidated material from the terrain surface, carbonate rocks altered by “corrosive” water, flora and fauna (and remains of), which is partially saturated with groundwater. Significant amounts of (plant accessible) water, and other solutes and particles, can be stored in this zone for extended periods of time. Thus, attenuation or biochemical processes could start in this layer and change quality of infiltrated ...Branislav Petrović. "The Flow Conditions in the Epikarst Zone of a Karst Aquifer.
Assessment of spa mineral water quality from Vrnjačka Banja, Serbia: geochemical, bacteriological, and health risk aspects
Nebojša Đ. Pantelić, Simona Jaćimović, Jana Štrbački, Danijela B. Milovanović, Biljana P. Dojčinović, Aleksandar Ž. Kostić (2019)The goal of this study is to evaluate the quality of seven natural mineral water sources in the Vrnjačka Banja area used in the treatment of various diseases. The 24 macro- and microelements were determined by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES). The results show that element content was within allowed limits of concentration, except for B, As, and Se. The evaluated content of these elements can be associated with geological and anthropogenic factors. The sample S6 contains ...Nebojša Đ. Pantelić, Simona Jaćimović, Jana Štrbački, Danijela B. Complex geophysical survey on solving the problem of water loss in the karst terrain reservoir
Branislav Sretković, Dejan Vučković (2023)Geophysical surveys in karst terrain are always a specific challenge. Each of them requires a careful consideration of the problem, specific conditions on the ground, the selection of adequate methods applicable in that specific and unique karst area. But they should have one thing in common: a complex approach and looking at the problem from wider to narrower, with a gradual narrowing of the investigation area, increasing the spatial precision and resolution of the obtained data. On the example of ...Branislav Sretković, Dejan Vučković. Fuzzy optimization in hydrodynamic analysis of groundwater control systems: Case study of the pumping station “Bezdan 1”, Serbia
Dragoljub Bajić, Dušan Polomčić (2014)A groundwater control system was designed to lower the water table and allow the pumping sta-tion “Bezdan 1” to be built. Based on a hydrodynamic analysis that suggested three alternative solutions, mul-ticriteria optimization was applied to select the best alternative. The fuzzy analytic hierarchy process methodwas used, based on triangular fuzzy numbers. An assessment of the various factors that influenced the selec-tion of the best alternative, as well as fuzzy optimization calculations, yielded the “weights” of the alternativesand the ...groundwater lowering, groundwater management scenario, fuzzy analytic hierarchy process, expert knowledge, triangular fuzzy numbers, linguistic variables... disaster in the Bačka District (Serbia), as well as avoid suspensions of nav- igation and different types of water supply, it is neces- sary to expand the Bačka section of the Danube–Ti- sa–Danube Water Scheme.
