Hydrochemistry of groundwater contaminated by petroleum hydrocarbons: the impact of biodegradation (Vitanovac, Serbia)
Nenad Marić, Jana Štrbački, Sanja Mrazovac Kurilić, Vladimir P. Beškoski, Zoran Nikić, Snežana Ignjatović, Jovana Malbašić (2020)Aquifer contamination by petroleum hydrocarbons leads to measurable changes of groundwater hydrochemistry, primarily due to the microbiological activity. This study analyzes this phenomenon at an historical kerosene-contaminated site in Vitanovac (central Serbia). Due to the long-term hydrocarbon contamination and exposure to aerobic and anaerobic biodegradation mechanisms, the lowest concentrations of O2, NO3−, and SO42− (electron acceptors) and the highest concentrations of Mn and Fe (products of microbial metabolic activity) overlap. The terminal redox-accepting processes in groundwater ranged from oxygen ...Nenad Marić, Jana Štrbački, Sanja Mrazovac Kurilić, Vladimir P. Beškoski, Zoran Nikić, Snežana Ignjatović, Jovana Malbašić. Distribution of Uranium and Rare Elements in Radioactive Phosphate-Bearing Anomalies in Southeast Mongolia
Boris Vakanjac, Neil Rutherford, Vesna Ristić Vakanjac, Tanita Đumić, Suzana Đorđević Milošević (2020)Soviet and Mongolian geologists initiated geological exploration of Mongolia for minerals after World War II (1945). These activities lasted until the breakup of the USSR in 1991. As part of this exploration systematic uranium and rare element exploration was undertaken across Mongolia. New exploration resumed in Mongolia at the beginning of the 21st century for a range of ore and mineral deposit styles including uranium, coal, base and precious metals and Fe-ore. This was generally undertaken by Western-based companies. This ...Boris Vakanjac, Neil Rutherford, Vesna Ristić Vakanjac, Tanita Đumić, Suzana Đorđević Milošević. Primena digitalne fotogrametrije u rudniku Rudnik
Digitalna fotogrametrija, lasersko skeniranje i virtuelizacija sve više pronalaze aktivne uloge u rudarstvu, prvenstveno zbog svoje široke mogućnosti primene. Multi-elemental analysis of real water samples from the Požega area, Serbia
The impact of calculation of resources and reserves on mining activity in Serbia
The appearance of interest of the world's most important mining companies i for investment in Serbia imposes the problem of harmonization of domestic legislation with foreign ones. The existence of such a conflict of criteria in use for categorization and classification can lead to misunderstanding and create certain complications in business. A hundred years of Milutin Milanković's climate change theory - geological implications
Reducing environmental impact caused by mining activities in limestone mines
Radmila Gaćina, Bojan Dimitrijević (2022)Mining and its related activities have always resulted in changes in the environment and these changes can vary from one area to another. As a result of mining, several types of changes can be distinguished: destruction of land and existing vegetation, changes in terrain topography, modification in air quality, changes in surface and groundwater quality, as well as change geotechnical conditions of the rock. Environmental impact of mining have been a public concern. There is widespread global interest in mining ...Radmila Gaćina, Bojan Dimitrijević.
