Hydrochemistry of groundwater contaminated by petroleum hydrocarbons: the impact of biodegradation (Vitanovac, Serbia)
Nenad Marić, Jana Štrbački, Sanja Mrazovac Kurilić, Vladimir P. Beškoski, Zoran Nikić, Snežana Ignjatović, Jovana Malbašić (2020)Aquifer contamination by petroleum hydrocarbons leads to measurable changes of groundwater hydrochemistry, primarily due to the microbiological activity. This study analyzes this phenomenon at an historical kerosene-contaminated site in Vitanovac (central Serbia). Due to the long-term hydrocarbon contamination and exposure to aerobic and anaerobic biodegradation mechanisms, the lowest concentrations of O2, NO3−, and SO42− (electron acceptors) and the highest concentrations of Mn and Fe (products of microbial metabolic activity) overlap. The terminal redox-accepting processes in groundwater ranged from oxygen ...Nenad Marić, Jana Štrbački, Sanja Mrazovac Kurilić, Vladimir P. Beškoski, Zoran Nikić, Snežana Ignjatović, Jovana Malbašić. Legal framework for recultivation of degraded areas caused by mining exploitation
Effectiveness Analysis of Different Bucket-wheel Excavators
Coal production in open-pit lignite mines in the Republic of Serbia is performed with continuous work systems. In addition to coal production, the same systems are used for the exploitation of large quantities of overburden. According to the reliability concept, continuous systems are in linear connection. If the failure occurs in one part of the system, that will produce a downtime of the entire system. The initial and most important factor of continuous systems is the bucket-wheel excavator. It ...Stevan Đenadić, Predrag Jovančić, Dragan Ignjatović, Miloš Tanasijević, Filip Miletić. Possibilities for Reduction of Energy-Related Air Pollution in Serbia - Exploring Energy Scenarios
Fossil fuels and biomass account for almost 93% of the total primary energy supply in Serbia. Meeting the energy needs of consumers implies a transformation of the chemical energy of fuels through combustion processes to obtain heat that can be utilized as such, or further transformed into mechanical or electrical energy. These processes have an undeniable impact on air pollution, even in cases of biofuels or hydrogen combustion. Possibilities for air pollution reduction are identified, both on the supply ...Marija Živković, Boban Pavlović, Dejan Ivezić, Aleksandar Mijatović.
